If neurotic is wanting two mutually exclusive things at one and the same time, then I'm neurotic as hell. I'll be flying back and forth between one mutually exclusive thing and another for the rest of my days. ~Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
Yeah me too, but if you look around for tutorials a good deal of them say this. Some justify it as "in REAL manga they use REAL tones that are expensive and TRUE manga artists would NEVER be so wasteful with their tones!" I didn't make any of that line up, its in a number of them out there.
Now in reality land where I live, almost ALL manga is digital now, and I can think of 10 "professionals" right off the top of my head that violate this "rule"...
I'm gonna go ahead and stick to what we think looks good, LOL.

YAY, I'm glad you think so!!! I don't know why this "rule" (MYTH) persists anymore either...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
